IPSP: a unique sharing opportunity and a great growing experience for young researchers and industrial companies.

Industrial Problem Solving with Physics (IPSP) is a one-week event organized by the Department of Physics, the Doctoral School in Physics and the Research Support and Valorisation Division of the University of Trento, in collaboration with ConfindustriaTrento and Polo Meccatronica - Trentino Sviluppo.

The aim of this event is to boost the connection between University and industry. Young and motivated researchers will have the chance to prove their skills, while selected companies will experience the unique opportunity to collaborate with young and talented brains.

The 2022 edition of IPSP (IPSP2022) will be held from 18 to 23 July 2022, at Polo Scientifico e Tecnologico "Fabio Ferrari", Via Sommarive 9 - Povo, Trento.

How does IPSP work?

3 companies and up to 30 brains (master course students and graduates, PhD students, post-docs and fellow researchers) will be selected and will work in teams led by 3 experienced researchers (the Scientific Committee) for a week to find solutions to the technological problems proposed by the companies. Solutions will be achieved through inspiration, resources, and facilities available at the Department of Physics.

IPSP aims at creating a bridge for the transfer of technological knowledge and human resources between the University, in particular the Department of Physics, and companies. Students and researchers participating in the event will have the opportunity to tackle new practical challenges, crossing more than one area of their scientific background.

Participating companies can obtain a solution to their problems and experience an alternative approach about how to reach their goals. At the same time, they will have the chance to scout young and talented people for future collaborations.

Application and registration of companies

The guidelines for companies interested in participating in IPSP2022 are contained in the Calls-companies.

There are two phases to follow:

  • Phase 1: candidature submission (deadline 14 April 2022 at 01.00 p.m.)

To apply, companies must send an e-mail with the required documents to ipsp2022@unitn.it.

  • Phase 2: payment of fee and registration (deadline 24 May 2022)

By 12  May 2022, the selected companies will receive an e-mail with the instructions necessary to send the company logo and pay the fee, thus completing the registration procedure.

The registration fee for companies is € 1000.00 and includes the participation kit, coffee breaks and lunches organized as part of the event.

The deadline for making the payment of the fee and finalizing the registration is 24 May 2022.

Application and registration of Brains

The guidelines for students and young researchers (the brains) interested in participating in IPSP2022 are available in the Calls-brains.

There are two phases to follow:

  • Phase 1: candidature submission (deadline 14 April 2022, at 01.00 p.m.)

The registration deadline has expired. The list of the selected applicants will be published shortly in this section.
