The SASP (Symposium on Atomic, Cluster and Surface Physics) 2024 returns to Italy after the 2000 edition held in Folgaria (Trento).

This international symposium is one in a continuing biennial series of conferences (the last one was held in 2022 in Obergurgl, Austria, as an in-person event in compliance with the COVID-19 regulations due to the pandemic still ongoing) which seeks to promote the growth of scientific knowledge and effective exchange of information among scientists in the field of atomic, molecular, cluster, plasma and surface physics and related areas, including applied topics.

The symposium deals in particular with collisional interactions involving different types of collision partners, i.e. ions, electrons, photons, atoms, molecules, nano-particles, and surfaces.

The XXIV SASP will be held in Andalo (Trento), Italy. The conference and the accommodation of all participants will be at the Hotel Alpen.

SASP 2024 will offer invited expert lectures covering recent advances in the topics of the Symposium.

Contributed papers will be presented in two poster sessions. These poster sessions provide a forum for the presentation of new work and for discussion of recent progresses.

A few of the contributed papers will be selected for oral presentation as Hot Topics Talks.

We look forward to welcoming you in Andalo!

Location and venue

Location

Andalo is one of the most important tourist locations in Trentino, lying on the Paganella plateau, in the heart of the mountains of Trentino and only 37 km away from the magnificent city of Trento.

Situated amidst the imposing Brenta Dolomites at 1042 m above sea level, part of Andalo’s territory is included in the Adamello Brenta Natural Park and therefore offers numerous outdoor activities both in winter and summer. Skiing, trekking, MTB trails, food & drink and many other activities for all interests.

With 50 km of slopes and 19 modern lifts, Andalo is a paradise for skiers. For Nordic ski lovers, there are two loops of 3 km and 5 km adjacent to the village, immersed in nature and equipped with night lighting. A map of the network of ski slopes on the Paganella area is available here either as an interactive map or as a pdf version.

For those who don't ski, Andalo offers numerous fun activities such as the new toboggan run that descends from Pradèl or snowshoe hikes, which allow you to admire the wonderful Dolomite landscapes.

There are many alpine refuges that can be reached on foot to enjoy the characteristic dishes of Trentino tradition, while for the more adrenalin-fuelled there is also an Ice Racing Kart track.

And after skiing, you can enjoy relaxing with the wellness services of Acquain, or have fun in the splendid indoor swimming pool in Andalo with hydro-massage and water games, at the ice stadium or in one of the many après-ski venues.

Accommodation and Venue

The conference and accommodation for all participants will be held at the Hotel Alpen*** located in Via San Rocco, 15 - Andalo (Trento).

The Hotel Alpen is a 3-star resort with bright and cosy rooms equipped with all comforts. The hotel has all the most modern facilities, including the “Thermae Aphrodite” spa equipped with swimming pool, massages and treatments, sauna and Turkish bath.
